The Allen County Commissioners on April 25 approved a purchase agreement for county-owned property at 4315 Meyer Road after a public bid process produced a $500,000 offer.
County Attorney Maeser told the board the county acquired the property through tax sale a few years ago and earlier this year the commissioners set a new minimum bid of $309,000 in advance of restarting the bidding process. "The bid process concluded this past Monday. We did receive well over the minimum bid, the minimum bid had been set at 309,000. I'm happy to report that we received a bid of 500,000 for the property, and now have also, received the signed purchase agreement, and a check for the earnest money that is called for in this transaction," Maeser said.
Maeser said the purchase agreement was drafted by county counsel and included with the bid documents so bidders had an opportunity to review it; she said the signed winning agreement had no modifications. A commissioner asked whether revenue from the sale would go to the general fund; a staff member identified as "Chris" answered, "Yes, ma'am."
Maeser said the county had multiple bidders for the parcel; she said at least four parties submitted bids. Commissioners moved and seconded approval of the purchase agreement and the board approved the sale by voice vote.
County staff said the sale proceeds will be deposited to the general fund and that the procurement followed the statutory bid process required for disposition of tax-acquired property under Indiana law.
