Floyd County commissioners approved three preliminary engineering contracts presented by Nick Creeby, director of Building and Development Services. The contracts are for: (1) the Highway 150 intersection project between Luther Road and Noble Vincennes (total contract $393,443.50; county share $78,750, federal/state match covers the rest); (2) Baylor Wissman Road reconstruction (preliminary engineering contract $215,675; county share $54,194); and (3) Bridge 38 replacement and approaches (contract amount stated in the meeting; county share identified as $90,240; federal funds make up the remainder). Each contract was described as a standard boilerplate contract reviewed by the county attorney.
Creeby said the Highway 150 project will connect the two sides of State Road 150, eventually linking to a connector road; the Baylor Wissman project is tied to the Bridge 38 replacement and aims to reconstruct and improve corridor safety; the bridge contract covers replacement of Bridge 38 and associated approaches. Commissioners confirmed funding sources were identified for these projects and noted additional funding for future phases was anticipated.
Each contract was moved, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote. Commissioners said the agreements were routine, attorney-reviewed engineering contracts linked to federal and state grants and local matching requirements. The board recorded no amendments and directed staff to proceed with contract execution and next steps.
