Commission reappoints and appoints members to affordable-housing and Beachside redevelopment boards

The Daytona Beach City Commission on March 5 approved two resolutions filling seats on advisory bodies: a reappointment and new appointee resolution for the Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB) and appointments to the Beachside Redevelopment Board.
By voice vote, 7-0, the commission reappointed seven existing AHAB members whose terms had expired and appointed three additional applicants to bring the board to a ten-member complement with terms expiring Feb. 17, 2027. The resolution listed reappointed members Juanita Collins, Lydia Gregg, Jeff Hurt, Carol Leonard, Michael McLean, Suzanne O'Dean and Teresa McMillan Ward; new appointees named in the agenda were Angela Esmoda, Lucy Stewart Desmond and Richard Williams.
The commission also appointed two members to the Beachside Redevelopment Board to serve two-year staggered terms ending Dec. 31, 2026. The agenda noted the term of Gary Libby had expired and listed two applicants, Thomas Coughrey and Jeffrey Honeycutt; the motion to appoint carried 7-0. A member of the public, William Biddaugh, spoke in favor of resident participation and thanked commissioners for their work on neighborhood issues.
Both appointments were approved without recorded opposition.
