Owner-designer Peter Guthrie presented the proposal to retain upper-floor openings, reclad the upper rear in painted cedar cladding and install 2-over-2 wood double-hung windows; the parlor-level extension is proposed in stucco to match block materials. The rooftop addition is set back and uses a cement-board cladding designed to reduce visibility; applicants said only a small sliver of terracotta chimney flues would be visible from a limited area on Pacific Street. Brooklyn Community Board 6 recommended approval with conditions that the extension match neighboring depths and that HVAC units be minimized.
Commissioners found the proposal modest in scale and consistent with the row's rear-yard pattern. "It is a very modest proposal, well done," Commissioner Master said. The commission voted in favor; recorded vote was 9 in favor and none opposed.
