The Atchison City Commission unanimously approved the consent agenda during the Feb. 3 meeting and later voted to enter executive session for attorney consultation under Kansas statute KSA 75-4319(b).
City Manager Mark Westhoff presented five consent items: approval of the Feb. 3, 2025 meeting minutes; authorization for the mayor to sign an increase request for banking-services exposure limits for the city's checking account at Exchange Bank; authorization for the mayor to sign a supplemental grant agreement (3225Number1 to agreement 42224) with Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) Aviation to ensure full reimbursement for runway-project work; authorization for staff to pay Banner Fire Equipment $28,112 for eight sets of firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE) (budgeted in the ERP); and adoption of Resolution 3410 setting fees for grave sales and services at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the consent agenda by voice vote; the clerk recorded "aye" votes and the chair declared the motion carried. Later in the meeting the commission moved and seconded to convene an executive session "for consultation with the city attorney to discuss privileged attorney-client matters such as litigation for claims against the city pursuant to KSA 75-4319 subsection (b)." The commission recessed into executive session and recorded the motion carried on a voice vote.
