Merriam Grand Station reports partial occupancy; landscaping and utility work remain

Community Development Director Brian Dyer told the council that Merriam Grand Station’s west apartment complex has obtained partial occupancy and Drake Development expects the full project to be completed in June. Dyer said undergrounding of utilities in the area will not be finished before that date and that Drake Development understands it will need to return to complete landscaping after underground work is done.
A council member raised concerns about potholes and pavement issues along Antioch related to the utility work. Director Kumpke (Public Works) said those areas should be repaired as part of required contractor work and that the responsible parties will be required to fix temporary potholes left by construction activity.
Why it matters: The project’s partial occupancy means residents are moving in while some site work remains. Staff said coordination is ongoing with the developer to complete landscaping and pavement restoration after utility undergrounding is finished.
Next steps: Staff will continue to monitor completion of undergrounding and require the developer to complete outstanding landscaping and pavement repairs.
