The Town of Merrillville Council unanimously approved its consent agenda and voted to submit the Merrillville Redevelopment Commission report to the county before the April 1 filing deadline.
At a March 25, 2025, meeting, Councilwoman Chandler Felton, Councilwoman Haynes Edwards, Councilwoman Uzelak, Councilwoman Hardaway and Councilman Pettit were present, establishing a quorum. The consent agenda covered the accounts payable register voucher for March 25 and approval of the Feb. 25, 2025, meeting minutes.
Councilwoman Uzelak moved to approve the consent agenda; Councilwoman Hardaway seconded. The council voted by voice and later by roll call; all five members voted yes, and the motion carried.
Council members then turned to a Merrillville Redevelopment Commission report for the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2024, which the council packet flagged as requiring submission to the county by April 1. Town staff members Bob Swentz and Angie were identified in the meeting as responsible for submitting the report to the county.
Councilwoman Uzelak moved to approve the redevelopment commission report for submission; Councilwoman Haynes Edwards seconded. The council conducted a roll-call vote: Councilwoman Chandler Felton, Councilwoman Haynes Edwards, Councilwoman Uzelak, Councilwoman Hardaway and Councilman Pettit each voted "aye," and the motion carried 5-0.
No substantive debate or requests for amendment of either the consent agenda items or the redevelopment commission report were recorded in the transcript. The meeting concluded after the votes; no additional business was raised.
