Commission approves cereal malt beverage license for Pizza Time under new ownership

The Ottawa City Commission on April 9 approved a new cereal malt beverage (CMB) license for Pizza Time, which is under new ownership.
City Clerk Reid recommended approval, saying staff and the police department had reviewed the application and found no violations or concerns; the city also runs a Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) background check for CMB applicants at no cost to the applicant. Reid said the annual fee for the license is $225, which includes a $25 state CMB fee. Reid further described CMB as beer with no more than 6% alcohol by volume.
The license approval followed a motion to grant the on-premises consumption CMB permit for Pizza Time at 208 South Main Street; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with affirmative votes from Commissioner Kaler, Commissioner Crowley, Mayor Pro Tem Clayton, Commissioner Skidmore and Mayor Allen.
Staff said the municipal code (Chapter 3, Article 3) governs CMB licenses and that the applicant’s background check and approvals from the police department and city attorney were complete; the clerk will collect fees and issue the stamped license.
