Bill Shalio, economic development director, said the single permit is the largest the county has ever issued and compared it to 2021 totals where roughly $498,000 in permit value represented 2,500 permits; by contrast, the GM permit alone approaches $405,000. "Construction will proceed here in May," Shalio said.
Shalio described the issuance as a significant economic development milestone and said it was the first of several large permits expected this year. No further project details, total investment figures or employment projections were provided at the meeting.
