Council approves MPO carryover appropriation for transportation and flood planning

Staff said about $58,000 in federal administrative funds were available to carry forward; the city must add a 20% local match (approximately $14,500) to use the federal balance. The total additional appropriation of roughly $72,500 will be placed in the MPO consulting fund.
Planned uses cited by staff include updates to the city’s long-range transportation plan (approximately $100,000 of planned spending identified in staff materials) and flood risk management plan updates (approximately $120,000 identified), funded in part by recaptured federal administrative funds. Staff said administrative federal funds for the MPO are typically 80% federal, 18% city and 2% county and that these funds can be carried over year-to-year. No public comment was recorded on the item and staff reported no changes to federal program levels affecting the carryover at this time.
