Council approves second reading to replace Columbus street-cut ordinance

The Columbus Common Council approved on second reading an ordinance to repeal and replace the city’s street-cut ordinance (previously O-8-28). City planner Andrew Beckert presented the item at the meeting and said the update had been discussed extensively and was intended to modernize procedures.
Council members described the revision as overdue and thanked staff for the work. After a second and a voice/roll-call sequence the council recorded an 8-0 vote to advance the ordinance on second reading.
No public speakers addressed the change during the council’s public-comment opportunity. The ordinance will return for any further readings required by city rules before final adoption.
