Commission approves abatement resolution, equipment purchase, mission and vouchers; several items pass unanimously

Staff described the item as the final set of nuisance vehicles left after prior notices and said the towing company would remove vehicles not corrected after a 10-day posting period.
The street department requested authorization to purchase a 50-foot mower from Keating Tractor not to exceed $20,000, funded from the 1% sales tax for street, drainage and capital improvements. A motion to approve the purchase was made by Commissioner Warren and seconded by Commissioner Vasquez; the motion passed with four in favor and one abstention (4-0 with 1 abstaining). One commissioner announced an abstention prior to the vote; the commission recorded the final vote as four yes, zero no, one abstain.
The commission adopted new mission, vision and value statements as presented. The motion to adopt the statements was made by Commissioner Vasquez and seconded by Commissioner Warren; the motion passed 5-0.
The commission ratified vouchers for two dates: the April 8, 2025 voucher list in the amount of $1,750,217.85 (motion by Commissioner Warren, second by Commissioner Parsons; passed 5-0) and the April 22, 2025 voucher list in the amount of $1,459,949.27 (motion by Commissioner Warren, second by Commissioner Vasquez; passed 5-0).
Other routine items that passed unanimously included approval of the agenda as amended and approval of minutes for the March special and regular meetings. The consent agenda was also approved 5-0.
