Panel members noted pending charges in Texas (one dismissed; another unresolved), prior convictions, and that the judge ordered the current 10-year sentence without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. Based on criminal history and outstanding issues, the board voted to deny parole and advised Simpson to continue programming and reapply.
The panel recorded the denial on the record and suggested placement where Simpson could complete mandatory classes before reconsideration. Members said they were open to a future application after additional coursework and resolution of pending external charges.
