Terry Sikora presented the request and said the chassis cost $116,177 each and the snowfighter bodies are roughly $129,703 each (installed, out-the-door price). Sikora said ordering the chassis promptly would avoid potential tariffs because the chassis are not produced in Canada; staff expect chassis delivery in about four to five months. He also said the dealership would hold the chassis until the bodies are complete so warranty periods are preserved.
Board members asked about fleet commonality and maintenance. Sikora said standardizing on Peterbilt models makes maintenance simpler and parts stocking easier; staff noted four additional trucks will eventually need replacement. A board member asked whether plows or undercoating were included; staff said the quoted prices reflect factory-installed equipment and the out-the-door installed units.
Both motions—the chassis purchase ($232,354) and the snowfighter units ($259,406)—passed on voice votes with no recorded opposition. Staff said the purchases are part of the public works capital-improvement plan and funds are set aside.
