The Crown Point City Board of Public Works and Safety on Thursday approved awarding the Moab Park concrete expansion contract to the lowest responsive bidder, R and D Construction, at $52,500, pending final legal and staff review.
Adam Greer presented three proposals for concrete work within the fenced footprint of Moab Park: Milestone Contractors LP at $61,676; Reeth Riley at $74,935; and R and D Construction at $52,500. Greer described the work area as west of the turf and near the amphitheater stage; the concrete will create a loading area and pathways to accommodate trucks and equipment during concerts and events and to reduce recurring turf damage. Greer said the selected bid includes footings tied to a previously approved rigging truss redevelopment.
Board members asked about drainage and slope. Greer and engineering staff said the design retains a slope to the northwest so surface flow continues to the existing low area; drains near the stage will remain. The board voted to approve the low bid with the condition of final legal and engineering review.
The motion passed on a voice vote with no recorded opposition. The contract award covers only work inside the park fence line; staff said landscaping buffers will be preserved and some grass retained.
