Timothy Briggs, owner of Briggs Agency, presented a workshop asking the commission’s feedback on subdividing a roughly 3‑acre lot in Feather Rock Professional Office Park (700 W. Burrell Drive) into two parcels so the agency can build an office on the east parcel and hold or sell the western parcel.
Briggs said the east parcel is about 1.75 acres and contains roughly a half‑acre of wetland that he intends to keep undisturbed; the west parcel is roughly 1.2 acres and currently has no development plans. Engineer Mara/Marsh (Valparaiso) will provide technical details to the city as part of future site plan submittals.
Commissioners welcomed the proposal as a good fit for the office/medical uses in that part of Feather Rock and encouraged preservation of the wetland; one commissioner suggested leaving the wetland to naturalize and called the location “exactly what was intended” for office and medical uses in the area. No formal action was taken at the workshop; the petitioner was advised to prepare a site plan and expected permitting for next steps.
