Board approves vendor pricing agreement for city surveillance cameras

City IT and public-works staff presented proposals from several vendors for Verkada cameras and said Tri Electronics was the lowest and "most responsible" bidder. "Tri Electronics was substantially the lowest, and I think the most responsible," Adam, a city staff member, told the board.
Why it matters: Staff said a consistent vendor price and discount off MSRP will simplify future procurement for cameras used at parks, the EMA command vehicle, vehicle maintenance, the skate park and other city-owned sites. The purchase program will include cameras, mounting accessories, cellular gateways and licensing.
Cost and warranty: Staff said Verkada warrants equipment for 10 years and that replacement is rare; the quoted pricing covers units and accessories. The board approved the request and authorized procurement under the proposed pricing through 2025.
Implementation: Staff said installation timing depends on power and site readiness; some cameras can be programmed on delivery and activated once power is available. The board approved the vendor arrangement and moved to proceed with scheduled installations as sites become ready.
