Senate adopts resolution designating April 21 as 'Light of Justice and Resilience Day'; survivor advocates attend

Senator Patrick Cloud said, "Present today with us, is the organization tent makers, Miss Leticia Payton, the executive director. She is the mother of a survivor, Miss Dana Lacombe, and Mr. Tim Trahan, who is a survivor." Cloud described Tentmakers as an organization "dedicated to fostering hope, healing, and justice for survivors of *** abuse," saying their efforts include providing "a safe and supportive space" and pressing for clearer accountability and transparency.
Senator Cloud moved adoption of the concurrent resolution; the secretary closed the voting machine and announced "35 yays and 0 nays. Resolution has been adopted." The resolution is ceremonial in form — it designates a day of recognition and reflection rather than creating a new program or funding stream.
Leticia Payton and Tim Trahan were acknowledged on the Senate floor; Payton was introduced as Tentmakers' executive director and described in Cloud's remarks as "the mother of a survivor." Tim Trahan was identified as a survivor who has ministered to other victims in the past year.
The adoption followed other ceremonial and commemorative measures considered by the Senate during the same session. The resolution does not specify any reporting, funding, or regulatory requirements.
