Columbia council votes to enter closed session under Missouri statute for legal matters

At the conclusion of the open agenda on March 3, 2025, the Columbia City Council voted to move into a closed session to discuss legal matters.
The presiding officer made a motion “that the city council of the City of Columbia, Missouri to immediately go into a closed meeting here in Conference Room 1A/1B of City Hall to discuss legal actions, causes of action, or litigation involving a public governmental body and confidential or privileged communications between the public governmental body or its representatives and its attorneys pursuant to section 610.021 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri.” The motion was seconded.
A roll call followed in which council members present registered affirmative responses. The motion to enter closed session carried.
