Board approves First Due contract amendment for Lawrence Fire Department, saving about $2,000

The City of Lawrence Board of Public Works and Safety on March 27 approved Amendment No. 1 to the First Due contract for the Lawrence Fire Department, removing a training module the department said it does not currently use.

Chief Wallace, Lawrence Fire Department, explained the original contract included several modules and that after several months of working with the vendor the department concluded the training module “is not gonna meet our needs at this point” and the department did not want to continue paying for a module it does not use. Wallace said the amendment would reduce the contract cost by “around a $2,000 savings or so.” The board voted to approve the amendment by voice vote after a motion and second.
