Interim redevelopment director reports developer meetings and raises concern about Senate Bill 1’s impact on property-tax revenue

Goodnight also urged commissioners to monitor Senate Bill 1 at the Indiana Statehouse, saying, “the city of Lawrence gets about 45% of their revenue from property taxes.” He described SB1 as potentially favorable to large corporations but harmful to local governments if enacted as written, and said he and other municipal leaders are contacting state elected officials to try to reduce the bill’s local impact.
