Proposal No. 2, 2025, an ordinance introduced to amend Title 1, Article 1, Chapter 2, Section 12 of the Lawrence municipal code regarding Common Council approval for expenditures of professional service contracts, was discussed at the March 3 meeting only to note its referral status.
The council recorded that the proposal was introduced at the Feb. 19 meeting and remains pending at the committee level. The Committee of the Whole is scheduled to consider the ordinance on March 19 at 5:00 p.m. No committee recommendation or council action on the ordinance was taken at the March 3 full council meeting.
The text of the proposed code change was not read into the record at the March 3 meeting and the council did not debate the merits of the measure in public during that session; the ordinance remains under committee review.
