Lawrence City approved three customer billing adjustments at the meeting, totaling $1,803.90, to correct charges tied to service-line leaks.
The board voted to approve an adjustment for 7241 Royal Oak Drive of $267.90 "due to a service line main leak," an adjustment for 6006 Drakot Drive of $408.28 "due to a service line leak," and an adjustment for 5508 Hammock Glen Drive of $1,127.72 also tied to a service-line leak. Each adjustment was moved and seconded by board members and carried by voice vote.
The superintendent for utilities said there was nothing new to report in a formal report because of a recent illness, but staff recommended approval of the three adjustments on the agenda. In response to a question about the timing of the largest adjustment, the chair asked, "The this is for 30 days. Correct?" The superintendent replied, "It could be a little bit over that, but I'm not positive. I'd have to check." The transcript does not record a later clarification on the billing window.
The meeting also recorded routine procedural approvals: the board accepted minutes from the Dec. 13, 2024 meeting and approved payment of claims by voice vote. No citizen comments were recorded before the meeting adjourned.
