Natchitoches superintendent lays out staff-move plan after rebanding and Goldana closure

He corrected an earlier mistaken date and said the notices will not be sent on a Saturday.
The superintendent described several steps the district is taking to ease the transition. District staff bought moving boxes and labels so teachers will not be asked to purchase their own packing supplies, the district will do a deep cleaning of rooms before staff occupy them, and the district has created an email address for questions: movingquestions@npsb.la. The district will also offer a stipend "for 1 day's worth of work" to staff who choose to be present during moves.
Dr. Eloy said the May 9 notification date was chosen to avoid interfering with testing and to leave staff about three weeks in the transfer window (the transfer window ends on June 1): "The simple reason is twofold. 1 is we did not wanna interfere with testing ... and the other part is telling them on May 9 still allows for 3 weeks in the transfer window." He told the board the district has created a month-by-month move timeline and is meeting with staff at affected schools.
The superintendent said the district sent an initial email the Monday after the closure and followed with a staff survey to identify supports employees wanted during the transition, which informed the stipend and packing supplies decisions. He also said district staff have been conducting informal conversations with employees and that district leaders will attend faculty meetings at impacted schools in the coming weeks to answer questions.
The board did not take a formal vote during the report; the superintendent described the operational steps the district will take and the timeline for staff communications.
