A district heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning (HVAC) project at NACAD (NACA) was reported about 60% complete; three gym units and three classroom units remain, and cafeteria work was scheduled to begin immediately. Facilities staff described a separate incident at NJH they traced to a power surge that killed communications to HVAC units; when technicians reset the systems the units sometimes restarted in cooling mode rather than heat until the communications link was repaired and controls corrected.
Staff said NACA Central had recently received new heaters — "we just spent a million dollars in new heaters," a facilities presenter said — and that technicians had inspected classrooms and thermostats, finding temperatures that staff and teachers described as acceptable during spot checks.
Facilities staff asked the board for patience during the winter repair work and said they expect to complete remaining items within the coming month as parts and contractor schedules allow.
