The Tangipahoa Parish School Board voted unanimously to approve a $6,150 design contract with Arc7 to create plans for an outdoor covered pavilion that can be adapted for Independence High School and other parish campuses.
Mr. Joe, a parish staff member, said the design would produce a pavilion prototype that could be deployed at Independence, Sumner, O.W. Dillard and other sites where a covered outdoor space is needed. He described the pavilion as providing an alternative for outdoor eating and learning and said the parish prefers a reusable design rather than paying to design unique structures for each site.
A board member asked about pavilion size; Mr. Joe said he did not have specific dimensions available at the meeting. He noted the parish’s process will include a committee conversation and a policy discussion so architects are not paid for designs the board does not want to pursue. The motion to adopt the Arc7 contract passed unanimously on an open electronic vote.
The contract is for design work only; staff will return to the board for approval of construction contracts and site-specific implementation if the board proceeds.
