The Tangipahoa Parish School Board policy committee voted unanimously to adopt revisions to Policy IFCB, which set standards for allowable off-site field trips and prohibited activities.
Mr. McNeely presented the draft, noting the district previously lacked a written policy setting what trips the board considers allowable or prohibited. He said the revisions reflect input from district academic leaders and that guidance came primarily from staff with institutional experience.
Committee members raised a related question about on-site activities (for example, bounce houses at school field days). Mr. McNeely said the IFCB revisions address off-site excursions and that on-site rules should be placed in a different policy; staff will identify or draft the appropriate language for on-site events.
The motion to adopt Policy IFCB was made by Mr. Tolar and seconded by Mr. Anthony and passed unanimously. Members noted contributions from academic staff during drafting.
