The program listed winners by school and category. Middle‑school student recipients named in the meeting included Jacelyn Williams (AB Westside Magnet), Cynthia Easley (Champ Cooper), Janiyah McKnight (Greenville Park Leadership Academy) and others. High‑school students of the year named included Cole Sharkey (Amite High Magnet), Naja Watson (Independence High Magnet), Kendall Duncan (district 12th‑grade student of the year, Hammond High Magnet) and additional honorees from Kentwood, LaFarge, Ponchatoula and Sumner high schools.
Support staff awards covered both middle and high schools; winners named included Denisha Harrell (Amite High Magnet) as a high‑school support‑staff recipient and several middle‑school support staff. The board also named Amanda Williams (Ponchatoula Junior High) middle‑school district teacher of the year and Elizabeth Robbins (Hammond High Magnet) district high‑school teacher of the year. A principal of the year was introduced as a district and state semifinalist candidate, identified in the transcript as Dr. Amfei Cabanine.
The board noted the ceremony would run about 45 minutes and then take a 15‑minute break before moving to the meeting’s business items. Several board members and staff thanked the Florida Parishes Arena and organizers for hosting to accommodate a larger audience than the board’s regular meeting room.
The awards portion concluded with applause for all recipients and a brief recess before the board called the meeting back to order to consider routine business items and committee referrals.
