Council sets initial terms for Community Police Review Board members; one at-large seat remains vacant

The South Bend Common Council on May 12 adopted a substitute resolution (25-29) establishing initial staggered terms for members of the newly created Community Police Review Board.
The ordinance governing the board requires that initial members receive staggered one-, two- or three-year terms. The resolution set terms for nominated members and identified nominators: District 1: Sharia Williams (3 years, nominated by President Lee); District 2: Comenee Thomas (3 years, nominated by Council member Gooden Rogers); District 3: Kelly Johnson (2 years, nominated by Council member McBride); District 4: Louella Webster (2 years, nominated by Council member Warner); District 5: Roxanne Hughes (2 years, nominated by Council member Bolden Simpson); District 6: Donna McMahon (1 year, nominated by Council member Neskovsky); At-large: Joseph Adams (1 year, nominated by Council member White); At-large: Sheryl Ash (3 years, nominated by Vice President Thomas Morgan). One at-large position remained vacant; council said it would add that appointment by subsequent resolution.
There were no public speakers for or against; the council adopted the resolution 9-0.
