Beach said downtown drew approximately 255,000 visitors last year within the downtown measurement area and described the group’s ongoing data work, marketing and four signature events. She asked the commission to extend the partnership contract and the funding the MRC provides. Commissioners asked for a budget outline that would show how the $80,000 annual payment is allocated among event support, database maintenance, marketing and operational costs.
The commission voted to approve the two-year contract at $80,000 per year, with the amendment that the Downtown Partnership provide an annual budget breakdown for the commission’s records. The vote was unanimous.
