The Board of Public Works and Safety on Jan. 29 approved $1,073,798 in claims and approved its Jan. 22 minutes.
The vote came after a staff update on this week’s claims. A staff member identified as Craig told the board, “we did have a purchase of road salt and, mostly utilities and health care claims. And we did have the insurances this week on there.” He also said staff ran a second cycle on utilities the prior week.
The board moved and approved the Jan. 22 minutes earlier in the meeting and later voted to approve the claims. Board members present announced their assent by voice; the board recorded three affirmative votes. No individual roll-call votes were recorded in the transcript.
The claims approval was described as covering routine city operating costs, with specific categories called out by staff: a road salt purchase, utility payments, health-care claims and insurance charges. The board did not specify which departments received the largest shares of the total in the public remarks recorded in the transcript.
No statutes, ordinances or outside approvals were referenced during the claims discussion.
The meeting proceeded to new-business items after the claims vote.
