Board extends Muncie Mission contract to use remaining COVID-relief funds for vaccine clinic outreach

The Muncie Board of Public Works and Safety approved an amendment to the Office of Community Development’s contract with the Muncie Mission at its Feb. 5 meeting to use remaining COVID-relief funds for outreach supplies related to a recent vaccine clinic.

Nikita Adams of the Office of Community Development told the board the amendment would extend the contract so the organization could purchase outreach supplies for a vaccine clinic. "This is just to extend our contract with the Muncie Mission. They have been administering, an assortment of different relief efforts for COVID, and we have a little bit of funding left. So we wanted to extend the contract to help cover a, vaccine clinic that they had recently," Adams said. She added the funds would be used to help purchase outreach supplies "they did to encourage people to come into the clinic."

A board member moved to approve the agreement; another seconded and members voted by voice. One board member asked about the document language that referenced awards from 2020 through 2023 and whether an additional year should be listed; Adams replied that an award "had fallen through" and the contract was extended to cover the clinic.
