Security Pros pitches camera and access upgrades for parks; staff to review proposals

Sam Sohockey of Security Pros presented proposals Feb. 18 to the board for security upgrades at park facilities, including automated access control for bathroom doors and upgraded camera systems with higher mounts and hardened internet connections.
Sohockey said the firm has local offices and works with municipalities on surveillance and access control. He described a proposal for Cooley Park to automate restroom doors on a schedule (for example, locked after sunset, opened in the morning) and noted that remote management would reduce staff travel and key maintenance. He said that installation would require robust internet access at locations that currently lack it.
At Hicken Park Sohockey recommended remounting cameras higher (approximately 16–17 feet) to reduce vandalism and to isolate camera internet and power to make tampering less likely. He said the firm can connect cameras to dispatch or a remote monitoring center and recommended infrared and motion-sensitive options to maintain coverage even if lighting is reduced.
Sohockey said the firm could provide proposals for additional sites including the TUI pool, which had a recent break-in, and that parks staff can pursue installations incrementally to fit budgets. He will provide written proposals to parks staff for distribution to the board.
Parks staff said they will review the proposals and follow up with the vendor.
