Ivy Tech gets recurring street closure approvals for food trucks, kickoff and holiday events

The Muncie Board of Public Works and Safety on March 19 approved multiple street closures requested by Ivy Tech Community College for recurring campus and downtown events, including food trucks, employee gatherings, a back-to-school kickoff and a holiday carriage ride.
An Ivy Tech representative told the board the events are repeats of previous years and include daytime closures (typical hours cited: 9 a.m.–2 p.m., 10 a.m.–2 p.m.) and one evening event, plus one Saturday. "Most of these are things you've already been you've already done and keep doing," the representative said.
Board members asked about traffic impacts and complaints. The Ivy Tech representative said the convention center parking lot remains open and there have been no complaints in prior years. Board members praised Ivy Tech’s contribution to downtown activity: "This is part of what makes downtown so good," one member said.
Ted Baker moved approval of the street closures on multiple dates; the motion carried.
