Board authorizes street closures for Ball State commencement and Secret Families event

Separately, an event organizer for Secret Families explained the group requested a short, one-block closure in front of the Sigap house for an April 5 event that raises funds by teams pulling a wrapped vehicle and other large items. The organizer said setup typically begins at 10:30 a.m. and most events wrap by about 2:30 p.m., though they ask for extra hours on the application because of weather variability. The organizer said Ball State Police often lend barricades and provide a presence.
Both closures were approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded. The board did not specify exact closure start and end times for the Ball State request in the record; the Secret Families application listed an April 5 event with 10:30 a.m. setup.
