The Muncie Board of Public Works and Safety on April 2 approved the March 26 meeting minutes and the city’s register of claims, which the controller presented as totaling $1,899,994.
City Controller Craig Wright presented the claims; the board moved and seconded approval and carried the motion by voice vote. The minutes from the March 26 meeting were also approved by motion and voice vote.
The board approved a temporary residential parking request from Barbara and Cecil Bohannon for a neighborhood gathering near Ball State University. The applicants said they file this form for small get-togethers when the street is posted no parking; the board signed the request after the vote.
Minnetrista events manager Kirsten Novotny requested three street closures for annual events: Fairy Sprites and Lights (summer event), Boulevard Bash (October), and the Enchanted Luminaria Walk (December). Novotny identified each event and the board approved all three closures by separate motions and voice votes; staff said signed documents will be provided after the meeting.
Why it matters: the claims approval disburses city funds; the parking and event closures clear the way for community events and neighborhood accommodations.
All motions were moved and seconded on the record and carried without further roll-call detail recorded in the transcript. One board member, Ted Baker, was listed absent at roll call.
