Attorney John Brook, representing the company, said the event includes live-fire testing between noon and 1 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday (trading days) and fireworks demonstrations Friday and Saturday nights from about 8 p.m. until roughly 10:30 p.m., mirroring last year’s schedule. Chief Sloan’s note in the packet, cited by a board member, said the company indicated a hard stop at 10:30 p.m.; Brook confirmed that the company advised staff of the 10:30 p.m. cutoff.
Board members asked about prior complaints; Brook said the first year of noise testing generated complaints because it occurred on a school night, which prompted moving demonstrations to Friday and Saturday. A motion to approve the noise-exemption request was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Paperwork will be issued following the meeting.
