MUNCIE, Ind. — At the April 23 meeting of the Muncie Board of Public Works and Safety, resident Zane Bishop asked whether crack sealing or other pavement preservation measures would occur on city streets this year. Board members and staff said a list of streets had not been developed and that the matter would require follow-up.
Bishop said he had seen records of preservation work in 2020, 2021 and 2023 and asked where to find information about planned work for 2024 and 2025. A board member replied, "I don't know. We don't have that information," and another said a list had not been developed and it was too late to have prepared one for the immediate period. The board asked staff to follow up so Bishop could check back for details.
The meeting record shows the board acknowledged the history of a prior preservation program and that staff members are still assessing street needs. No schedule, budget figure, list of streets, or contract award for crack sealing or other pavement preservation was provided on the record during the meeting.
