District reports growth in AP, dual-credit and college enrollment; board asks for deeper analysis of early graduation and gender gaps

District instructional staff presented a report on AP testing, dual-credit expansions and postsecondary outcomes, saying 138 students were taking AP exams this season and many tests were administered digitally.

Staff said the district added a Core Transfer Map option this year (12 students projected to earn the package) and had two students completing the AOT pathway; the Ed 101 dual-credit course will allow Crooked River mentors to earn college credit through COCC next year. Staff also announced plans to pause the honors biology course for a few years and reintroduce AP Biology once scheduling and articulation align with college credit pathways.

Board members praised expanding opportunities but pressed staff for deeper analysis on several issues: a persistent gap in college enrollment (about 42 percent of females vs. 23 percent of males in averaged recent years), the trend of early graduation and whether early completers have clear career pathways, and how the district can better track CTE graduates and degree earners. Staff said they will return with more disaggregated data and proposed next steps for targeted outreach and tracking.
