The Crook County School District’s finance staff told the board that the Oregon Department of Education’s May reconciliation of the prior school year will reduce the district’s state funding by about $680,000.
That shortfall was discussed during the district financial report. Business manager Bob said the district had already budgeted or reserved approximately $550,000 against the possible adjustment, leaving a net estimated shortfall of about $132,000.
Board members asked whether the district needed a formal budget adjustment. Finance staff said the transfers the district expects to make will be between like fund levels (100-level funds) and therefore do not require a budget-appropriation amendment. Staff offered to return with further detail if board members wanted more information about the composition of the estimated liability and any remaining contingency.
