Elkhart recognizes student winners of third annual Fair Housing poster contest

Dana Donald of the City of Elkhart’s Community Development and Human Relations Commission introduced the City’s third annual Fair Housing poster contest winners and thanked partner organizations including the Elkhart County Board of Realtors, Tolleson Center, and the Dream Academy.
Toni Bontrager, president of the Elkhart County Board of Realtors, and Nicholas Wise, past president, joined Donald to recognize winners across grade levels. First-place winners announced included Myla Williams (grades 5–6), Mijay McKnight (grades 3–4) and Brielle Wheeler (second grade); second- and third-place finishers were also named, including Alonzo Rivera and Hope Gibson. Donald said the contest drew 23 entries this year and that all winning posters will be on display at Tolleson Center starting next week.
Council members and partners invited winners and their families forward for photographs. Donald said Mary Jo Wyrick and Dana Irvin served as chair people for the contest and thanked Dream Academy staff for participation.
