The application pairs multiple federal- and state-funded strands (including early literacy, student investment and high-school-success initiatives) with district strategies such as expanded multilingual-teacher staffing, early literacy supports (including a kinder'jump-start), ninth-grade intervention staff and family partnership advocates.
The board adopted Amplify'CKLA (English) and CKLA'aligned Camino's (Spanish) as the district's K'5 language-arts materials for a seven-year adoption. The adoption committee, which included classroom teachers, instructional coaches, ELD staff and parents from across the district, recommended the curriculum after a multi-step review that included classroom observations, vendor presentations and ranked-choice voting among committee members.
The business office requested proposals from six auditing firms; the board authorized the superintendent or designee to negotiate terms with Clear Trail CPAs after staff received three proposals. The action implements policy DIE, which requires districts to solicit audit services regularly.
Finally, after discussion the board agreed to extend the student-representative application deadline to May 2 and scheduled interviews the week of May 5; Director Weston was added to the interview panel. The board also earlier amended the agenda to allow that item to be considered at this meeting.
