A utility staff member identified in the meeting as Laura reported the plant is operating well and that the new systems are functioning as expected during recent rainfall events. When asked whether the city would have experienced more overflows had the recent expansion not been completed, Laura said, “Future that will be the case. We’re not there yet,” indicating that the system is not yet fully through the staged improvements.
Board members discussed how remaining combined‑sewer overflow (CSO) work still affects performance and noted that some overflows relate to CSO projects still pending completion. Board member Andy Jones thanked staff for a recent plant tour, saying the walk‑through helped him understand infrastructure and why the recent utility rate increases were necessary to maintain drinking water and wastewater systems.
The board approved the report by voice vote; staff will continue optimization, monitoring, and reporting on system performance as remaining projects move toward completion.
