Lafayette City approves $291,829 contract for asphalt rejuvenation on several streets

Jeremy Grindard, City Engineer for Lafayette City, told the council it was seeking approval of a contract with RejuvTech Incorporated to apply the Reclimate Asphalt Rejuv product in 2025. The contract amount is $291,829.49 and would cover streets the city paved two years ago, including Kasu Street from Fourth to Earl and Main Street from South to Sagamore Parkway, plus several subdivisions paved in 2023.
Grindard said the city has used the product several times since 2020 with what he described as success. When a councilmember asked about expected life extension, Grindard said the vendor publishes a “3 to 5 year extension.” He added the treatment helps prevent early cracking and reduces potholes over time.
Councilmembers moved and seconded approval. All those in favor said, "Aye," and the motion carried.
The action will permit the public works department to schedule the 2025 applications on the streets named in the contract. The contract amount and listed streets were presented to legal staff and brought before the council for formal approval.
