LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Lafayette Renew asked the City Council on April 1 to approve a four-year industrial user permit renewal for Nanshan America Advanced Aluminum Technologies; the council approved the renewal by voice vote.
“Before you, a 4 year industrial user permit renewal for Nanshan America advanced aluminum technologies. They're currently permitted with our pretreatment program as a significant industrial user and are in good standing,” said Josh Teriloff of Lafayette Renew.
A council member asked for clarification about the definition of a “significant contributor.” Teriloff explained the classification applies to users that discharge more than 25,000 gallons a day to the sewer system, are subject to categorical federal standards, or are otherwise designated by the utility’s pretreatment program. Teriloff also noted this particular permittee “is not” pretreating on-site for the renewal in this record.
Following the presentation and brief questions, a motion to approve the renewal was made, seconded and approved by voice vote; no opposition was recorded in the meeting minutes.
The renewal keeps Nanshan America in Lafayette’s pretreatment program as a significant industrial user for four years. The council did not record additional conditions, monitoring changes, or a permit fee in the meeting record.
