Councilwoman Venez moved for first and second reading and said the ordinance creates the line items that would be used if the city is awarded a $133,000 grant.
"This is establishing, line items for the energy efficiency and conservation block grant if that, the city was awarded in the amount of a $133,000," Councilwoman Venez said during the meeting. The motion to give the ordinance first and second reading carried on a council voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Council members agreed the item did not require referral to committee. The ordinance creates the fund and accounting structure so the city can accept and track grant proceeds if the award is finalized; no appropriation beyond the administrative line items was recorded at the March 24 meeting.
Next steps are a scheduled reading and any required acceptance steps if the grant award is formally issued to the city and corresponding appropriation is needed.
