The Board of Public Works and Safety on Feb. 13 approved multiple consultant agreements and routine administrative renewals.
The board approved a $60,000 allocation from the capital improvement board (CIB) for a general-services agreement with Niece Engineering to assist the engineering department with drainage, curb issues and CAD work. City staff said the capital improvement board funded the allocation at a prior meeting and the agreement had been signed by the controller and the mayor.
The board also approved $16,800 in CIB funding for a supplemental design agreement with United Consulting for the Torrance Avenue reconstruction project. Staff described the work as resuming a long-standing design project suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and expanding street parking for area restaurants; the funding allocation and the agreement were presented for approval and signed by the controller and the mayor.
Separately the board approved $43,200 for citywide pedestrian bridge inspections with Aegis (the firm that acquired the previous firm BLM). Staff said the inspections cover the city’s pedestrian bridges and boardwalks to determine needed remedial actions; the prior inspection work was funded by the port authority.
The board also approved the controller’s request to renew amusement devices for VFW Post 7881 and approved a request from Kelly Kearney for two Ford Ranger vehicles.
Each item was presented with funding allocations and attached agreements; board members moved, concurred and approved each item in succession. The approvals were routine administrative actions; no dissent or substantive debate was recorded.
The contracts and allocations will proceed to execution by appropriate signatories and the related work will be scheduled by the departments and consultants.
