During the bid opening the board read bid totals from multiple bidders; one bidder’s total was recorded as $1,842,676.98 and another as approximately $1,494,000. City staff said the project had been expected to cost about $3,000,000 and described the low bids as reducing reliance on city funds.
A staff member asked that the packet be sent to United Consulting, the city’s consultant, for review and recommendation. A board member moved to send the bids to the consultant for review and tabulation; a second concurred and the motion carried.
The board did not award the contract at the meeting; members explicitly referred the bids for consultant review before any award decision.
Looking ahead, staff indicated they will return with United Consulting’s tabulation and recommendation before a contract award.
Votes at the meeting confirmed the referral; no award motion was taken.
