Council may pull Laradine funding from consent calendar after new resident data

City staff told the Thornton City Council that new data about residents served by a nonprofit prompted an option to add the item back to the agenda for a funding decision.
A staff presenter said the council had earlier decided not to proceed with a funding recommendation for Laradine based on information available at that time, but that "late last week" the city received follow-up data showing Thornton residents served by the organization. Staff therefore provided a substitute action for council to use if members wanted to add Laradine to action items.
Councilmember Roberta asked staff to remove the item from the consent calendar so it could be considered as an action item (to be renumbered from 12c to 13a). Roberta stated, "There were 24 individuals served at Laredon," a figure staff read back in the meeting.
No formal funding motion or vote occurred at the meeting. Staff described the procedural steps required to bring the item forward: a councilmember must request removal from the consent calendar and then move the substitute motion at the action-items portion of the meeting. At the time of the briefing, the council had not taken a final funding action and staff said no recommendation was being made in either direction.
