District completes RFP to replace Istation; committee to return next week with top vendor recommendation

Staff described the selection criteria: equitable English/Spanish support (authentic Spanish rather than literal translation), dyslexia screening capability, diagnostic reporting useful for district and campus planning, and instructional pathways that produce teacher-ready intervention suggestions. The RFP produced seven responses; six vendors demonstrated products and procurement eliminated one vendor for inadequate Spanish equity.
Procurement and the review committee — which included principals, special education, curriculum administrators, technology, and assessment staff — narrowed the field to three vendors for best-and-final-offer negotiations. Staff said they observed students using the candidate products in real classrooms as part of the evaluation.
Next steps: staff and procurement are negotiating pricing and will present a single recommended vendor for board consent at the next meeting so summer training for teachers can begin if funding is available.
